Pit Sauce from Wicked Good Burgers

Ingredients
  • 2 cups (480 g) ketchup
  • 1⁄2 cup (120 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1⁄2 cup (120 ml) cider vinegar
  • 1⁄4 cup (60 ml) water
  • 2 tablespoons (13 g) Basic BBQ Rub (recipe)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) chipotle hot sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer gently, whisking occasionally, for 30 minutes.

  1. An interesting and simple recipe. But the inclusion of “chipotle hot sauce” will be confusing and vague to some people, given that there are so many chipotle hot sauces on the market.

    Perhaps you or the authors could suggest a few?

    Cholula makes one, but I don’t recommend it (I love Cholula, but their chipotle is weak).
    Búfalo is big, bold and quite fiery.

    I would suggest one of the chipotle sauces from some small craft makers like Bigfats 508.
