BBQ Spiced Fried Pasta

Fried pasta, who would have thought.  I came across mention of this dish while looking for information on burgers for my huge May Burger Extravaganza.  I was curious enough about the thought of frying pasta that I had to give it a try.  But, of course, I had to give it a little BBQ twist.

It doesn't get much tastier than this crunchy snack food.
  • 2 pounds bow tie pasta
  • ¼ cup avocado oil
  • ½ cup BBQ dry rub, divided
  • Oil for frying
  1. Cook pasta according to the directions on the package. When pasta is done, a little firmer that al dente, drain and rinse well and drain again.
  2. When pasta is drained and somewhat dry, place in a large bowl. Drizzle avocado (or olive oil) over the pasta a little at a time and stir between drizzles to make sure the pasta is completely covered.
  3. Sprinkle half the BBQ dry rub over over the oiled pasta and gently toss to coat the pasta with the rub. Use your hands if it is easier.
  4. Pre-heat oil to 350 degrees
  5. Working in batches fry the seasoned pasta until golden brown and crunchy, about 6 minutes. When done remove from oil and drain.
  6. While still hot sprinkle a little more BBQ dry rub on the fried pasta. Repeat with each batch of pasta.
  7. After cooking store in an air tight container for up to a week.
