Barbecue Crossroads: Red Barbecue Sauce

Here’s a simple ketchup-based barbecue sauce recipe that is easy to whip up and keeps well in the refrigerator.
- 3 cups ketchup
- 2 cups water
- Dash of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground pepper
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook until the butter melts and the sauce begins to bubble. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to 3 weeks.
- Reheat before serving. Makes about 5 cups.
