Barbecue Crossroads: Red Barbecue Sauce
Recipe Type: BBQ Sauce
Here’s a simple ketchup-based barbecue sauce recipe that is easy to whip up and keeps well in the refrigerator.
  • 3 cups ketchup
  • 2 cups water
  • Dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook until the butter melts and the sauce begins to bubble. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to 3 weeks.
  2. Reheat before serving. Makes about 5 cups.
