Sous Vide and BBQ! What Have I Gotten Myself Into?

It is our mission to make sous vide cooking a standard technique in kitchens everywhere, both in America and around the globe.

sous-vide-supreme1Sous Vide, BBQ and a recipe contest!  Just what in the world have I gotten myself into?  I know my way around a grill and smoker.  But add a sous vide machine into the process and I can only hope I’m able to keep my head above water.

Sous Vide Supreme, a leading culinary brand for the home and professional cook who wants to add sous vide cooking to their techniques, has asked me to take part in a recipe contest where I will compete against some of the best BBQ bloggers in the country.  It’s a challenge I didn’t hesitate to take on, but now that the water oven has arrived I’m beginning to question my sanity.

I’ve watched great chefs on a variety of television cooking show using sous vide machines and they made it so easy I figured with a bit of research and some practice I would be a BBQ version of Chef Richard Blaise. And you know what, if it wasn’t for the stiff competition the Sous Vide Supreme system makes me feel pretty confident that I’ll do okay.

So what am I concerned about? It’s the competition, plain and simple. I’ve got to win this competition. I’m turning to my readers for help? I need recipe ideas. I’ve got to come up with something special to cook.  If you’ve got some ideas let me know in the comment section below.  I’d really appreciate your help.

  1. Good luck Larry. Sorry I don’t have any recipes for you to try, but looking at their website it says it could take up to 72 hours for spareribs. I guess that takes low and slow to a whole new level.

  2. I challenge you to ze sous vide dual!
