There are few companies with a reputation for great quality products and superb customer service levels. As far as I am concerned there is only one company to buy any kind of instrument for measuring temperature and that company is Thermoworks, located in Layton, Utah. My Superfast Red Thermapen is one of my most valuable cooking tools. There are only a few things that I do not allow anyone to use and one of those items is my Thermapen.
I was recently sent on of Thermoworks newest products the ChefAlarm. At first I wasn’t all that sure what I would use it for. It was bluetooth enabled, it didn’t fit in my pocket or anything like that. It just wasn’t a cool as my Thermapen. I was positive I would never use it. But I was wrong. The ChefAlarm is a versatile indoor and outdoor kitchen tool.
The ChefAlarm came in handy as recently as Thanksgiving day when I fried out turkey. The high temperature probe, that comes standard, worked great for checking the oil temperature. And the timer, with extra loud alarm, was helpful because I could hear the alarm which was in the patio while I was in the kitchen. The temperature probe is fast which is important when checking the temperature of foods while the fryer lid or smoker door is open.
I’ve never really trusted the probe in my oven. The ChefAlarm allows me to watch internal temperature while baking and roasting. And the timer again comes in handy because I’ve never really liked the timer on my microwave.
The low temperature alarm is handy when monitoring the temperature of my grill or smoker and with the ChefAlarm displaying the minimum and maximum temperatures reached during the cook I have complete control over all the temperatures.
All and all the ChefAlarm is worth the price. It is full of great features and because it’s made by Thermoworks, as long as you take care of it, it will last forever. Or at least a long time.
